Season 4, Episode 1: The Avengers

During the last days of summer before college, Seth is working at a comic book store in Newport. Ryan has problems dealing with the issues of the past and pushes himself with his new job. Kirsten is preparing Ryan a "care package" but neither she nor Seth can persuade Ryan to come home since he moved out after Marissa's sudden death. At Brown University, Summer settles into her new dorm room with new friend and roommate Che,who's an activist who wants to rally the students for a protest. Taylor phones Summer from the Sorbonne in Paris to ask about her current living status.

Summer's roommate doesn't know about Seth. Ryan is out of town searching for someone important. There is a clothing drive at Harbor.

Thanksgiving! Julie and Neil have relationship issues, but she is unwilling to talk about it. Seth has a new friend. Julie is informed on the movements of Volchock.

Summer soul-searches during a visit from Seth. Taylor pleads for Ryan's help with her marriage. Sandy longs for a guys' night. Julie vows to turn over a new leaf in moving on from Marissa's Death.


Season 4, Episode 5: The Sleeping Beauty

Ryan can't sleep, and a smitten Taylor tries to seduce him by becoming his sleep therapist. Meanwhile, Seth vows not to call Summer, and Kaitlin struggles when Julie has a fling with her tennis instructor.

Summer gets kicked out Brown, thanks to her friend Che. Ryan has fantasies about Taylor after kissing each other. And Kaitlin throws a party at Dr. Roberts house to get even with a popular girl.


Season 4, Episode 7: The Chrismukk-huh?

When Ryan and Taylor have an argument over where they stand with their whatever relationship they have, they both fall off a ladder while Ryan is putting up Christmas lights and both wake up in a alternate reality of what life is like had Ryan never came to Newport; Sandy is the uptight mayor of Newport Beach and married to Julie; Kirsten is married to Jimmy Cooper; Seth is still a socially awkward geek and Summer is a mindless, narcissistic party animal who is engaged to Chester "Che" Davison, whom is having a fling with the sex-addict Julie. Ryan also learns that Marissia in fact died from a drug overdose three years prior during the road trip to Tijuana, and Ryan was not there to save her. Meanwhile in the real world, Seth tries to arrange his annual Christmukka party and then tries to move it to the hospital where the comatose Ryan and Taylor are. Also, Julie and Katilin are planning to go to Riverside, but get detoured when they try to stop Taylor's insensitive mother from leaving town for the holidays.


Season 4, Episode 8: The Earth Girls Are Easy
Original Air Date: 28 December 2006
Ryan and Taylor decide to take a New Years Eve trip to Las Vegas, only Summer and Seth spoil their fun by insisting that they tag along. During the trip, Taylor begins to wonder whether Summer may be pregnant from her recent trysts with Seth, while he discovers the home pregnancy test in Taylor's purse and jumps to the wrong conclusion. But things take a turn when Summer's purse is stolen and the four of them end up at a rave populated by people dressed up as aliens to search for the purse snatcher. Back in Newport, Gordon Bullitt invites an reluctant Julie to his New Years Eve Blast Off party, while a mysterious man, calling himself Frank, shows up which may cause some trouble with Julie over her's and Kirsten's NewMatch dating service, while a bored Katilyn ponders her well being.


Season 4, Episode 9: The My Two Dads
Original Air Date: 4 January 2007
After Kaitlin presents a ruffled history to her class, and ends up getting assigned a tutor. Meanwhile, Summer and Seth resume with their recent commitment, despite how the two really feel about it. Julie tells Kirsten of the true identity of Frank that he happens to be Ryan's father just out of prison, while Sandy questions Frank's motives in Newport. When Sandy invites Frank over for dinner at their house, things don't go as well as presumed.


Season 4, Episode 10: The French Connection
Original Air Date: 11 January 2007
Ryan and Taylor experience a bump in their blossoming relationship when Taylor's French ex-husband, Henri-Michel, comes to Newport to promote a novel that he has written about his and Taylor's whirlwind romance and brief marriage. Meanwhile, Seth goes to Seattle for Dr. Roberts' blessing to marry Summer, while back in Newport, Summer becomes acquainted with former school mate Holly Fisher, who's now married herself, and shows Summer the style of that it's like to be a "Newpsie" housewife. Kirsten becomes suspicious about Julie's handling of their dating service and finally learns the truth after sealing Julie's mobile phone with her clients names and phone numbers on it. Also, Kaitlin finds an interest in her personal tutor, Will. But she's afraid of what he thinks of her.


Season 4, Episode 11: The Dream Lover
Original Air Date: 17 January 2007
Kirsten must clean up after Julie when one of the men she hooked someone with has an unpleasant "medical condition." Meanwhile, Will Tutt introduces Kaitlin to his fellow school band members Lucy, Jane, and Rachel during a bake sale at Harbor High to raise money to get new uniforms. But Kaitlin does not get along at all with Will's band mates because of her cynicism and insensitivity. Ryan tries writing a love poem for Taylor when Henri-Michel announces that he plans on staying in Newport for a while. Also, Che arrives back in town and takes Seth on a 'spiritual retreat' in the hills for Seth to see his path on where he stands with Summer.


Season 4, Episode 12: The Groundhog Day
Original Air Date: 25 January 2007
Seth and Che get in some trouble with the police when Che drags Seth into helping him try to free a groundhog before Newport's annual Groundhog Day festival. Meanwhile, Kirsten gets some life altering news and Taylor gets some extra help from a therapist to make things different with Ryan.


Season 4, Episode 13: The Case of the Franks
Original Air Date: 1 February 2007
Seth and Summer come upon a fortune teller who's predictions makes the two question whether they are truly meant for each other. Ryan gets back in touch with his father (with a little help from Taylor). When the two teens discover a love connection between Frank and Julie despite her pending engagement, a Valentine's competition is sparked between "Team Bullet" and "Team Frank". Meanwhile, with a new baby on the way, Kirsten finds herself dwelling on an old secret involving Jimmy Cooper.


Season 4, Episode 14: The Shake Up
Original Air Date: 8 February 2007
On Taylor's 19th birthday, and she hopes Ryan will tell her he loves her, but she's unsure whether she should tell him she got into Berkely as well. Meanwhile, Summer tells Seth that she feels that he should find something in his life that he really cares about, whereas Kirsten is having second thoughts about raising another child in the uptight community of Newport. Also, Kaitlin continues to resent Frank Atwood's presence around the house with her mother. But at the end, something unexpected happens even though it's been predicted.


Season 4, Episode 15: The Night Moves
Original Air Date: 15 February 2007
In the immediate aftermath of a violent earthquake that rocks Newport, everyone tries to struggle to stay together and keep their spirits up. Sandy and Kristen are stranded at the local shopping center where Kristen has an accident. Across town, Julie and Kailin are stranded in a demolished ice cream parlor on the pier with a pitiful worker of the place. Meanwhile, Ryan is seriously wounded with a piece of glass in his side, but keeps the news from Taylor to avoid panicking her. Seth soon learns of Ryan's condition and attempts to drive him to safety while Summer and Taylor search the ruins of the Roberts house for Summer missing rabbit, leading to Taylor having a confrontation with her mother.


Season 4, Episode 16: The End's Not Near, It's Here
Original Air Date: 22 February 2007
Six months after the trauma of the Newport earthquake, Ryan and the rest of the Cohens struggle with their living arrangements in the aftermath of the destruction of their house. Both Ryan and Taylor struggle with their feelings for each other despite knowing that they have nothing in common. Seth feels he's keeping Summer back from her activist work programs, but does not want to let go of her. Meanwhile, Julie, whom is now three months pregnant herself, is planning her upcoming wedding to Gordon Bullit, but Kaitlin realizes that she is not over Frank Atwood. Seth and Ryan visit the old house that Sandy and Kirsten lived in before there move to Newport Beach. When they pressure Sandy and Kirsten to visit their old house, where a gay couple now resides there, Kirsten happens to go into labor, and soon, Julie's wedding becomes the scene of the place.
